We’re living in a time unlike any other. Okay, so every generation has probably uttered those words, it’s as true for them as it is for us in many aspects. We’ve come a long way since the invention of the wheel…
TAKE YOUR MIND BACK THROUGH TIME.
Imagine being a farmer in 1703. You’d get up at the crack of dawn to dig, dig, and more digging; sweaty, back-bending labour each day, until the night. Until one day, some fancy chap with a slick-looking moustache tells you about a ground-breaking invention – literally. How using a revolutionary new horse-drawn seed drill could save you incredible amounts of time and energy during cultivation. (Thank Jethro Tull – pioneer of agricultural mechanisation – for that).
This would’ve been completely mind-blowing!
You’d remark to your kids about how absurd the current times were – like none before. Saying their generation is doomed because, back in your day, kids looked at hard work dead in the eye and weren’t afraid of it! Ironically enough, not much has changed because we’re still dealing with constant changes…
So, what makes this generation’s challenges different from those times before? Without question, it must be the speed of development in all fields, not only agricultural.
The digital age is in full swing and rocketing every year. Automation, information, resources, and solutions now lie in the palm of your hand, and anything is just a few clicks away. Some have taken this reality into their stride, while others remain lost in the wake of a dramatic rate of change.
