How To Stay Motivated: A Guide to Working from Home, Like a Boss.

It’s time to face the facts…

Without question, having a job is a privilege these days, but working from home is not as luxurious as it once seemed.

So many people have learnt that the hard way over these past few months. Working from home undoubtedly has its benefits, but also some costs…

You can climb out of bed a bit later because you don’t need to travel anywhere, stay in your pyjamas longer (if not the entire day – guilty as charged!), and you don’t really need to care about what your hair or face looks like.

After weeks of this relentless process, you can end up feeling deeply depressed, severely anxious, and overly critical of your innate abilities and self-worth.

THEN IT HITS YOU LIKE A DEER IN HEADLIGHTS…

You imagined a reality of “living the dream”, only to realise, that’s all it was, just a distant dream. Sometimes it’s hard to swallow the harsh truth: Working from home really sucks sometimes.

It can be lonely, often boring, desire to achieve more can diminish, and the distractions are endless…

With all these challenges, plus lack of a routine, it’s no wonder you’re finding it hard to beat the slump and gather momentum with your day-to-day responsibilities. Shrugging off important obligations – for when you feel up to it – –and even ignoring your basic hygiene and crucial duties.

UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND IT ALL.

The truth is that the honest effort we make, and the continuous attitude we have towards each day, has a compounding effect on how we see ourselves, our motivation, and our productivity.

For this reason, it’s prudent to hash out the stuff you should be doing every day, if you want to be prepared for your busy schedule and feel like a boss doing it.

Call it a guide on how to start crushing your day – if you will – and not only that snooze button. Commit yourself to these steps, and you’ll feel better within days.

10 SIMPLE STEPS TO CRUSH YOUR DAY:

1) Wake up an hour earlier to plan your tasks (set five alarms if you must and put your phone out of reach so you can’t snooze it).
2) Jump in the shower/bath straight away, ideally with chilly water, or splash your face.
3) Dress up as if you’re going to a life-changing interview at any moment, or to meet the Queen, and take pride in your appearance!
4) Do your hair, make up etc. like you’re going to the Met Gala. These few products can help with that.
5) Have a hearty breakfast and drink a glass of water, or cup of tea/coffee.
6) If possible, ruthlessly cut out all distractions, as if your life depended on it: TV, cell phone and everything else that takes you out of the zone when it’s time for business.
7) Take a 20-minute break every two to three hours, and eat a snack, have a walk, hydrate, stretch, or whatever you need to calm your mind and destress.
8) Make the time for any sort of workout – 3 times a week for 30-45 minutes is more than enough. This equipment will help you get that done quickly and conveniently.
9) Jot down your thoughts onto paper, your triumphs, successes, joy, fears, and failures of each day. Keep track of your mental and physical progress.
10) Be kind to yourself and accept that not every day will be flawless. Your best will look different each day but knowing in your heart that you tried is what matters!

Everyone’s situation is different and understanding your strengths and weaknesses is vital for your success.

But you can do it!

If you set your mind to it, you can achieve greatness. By knowing your worth, celebrating small victories, and never giving up, that’s when the magic happens!

Just try it and see the difference…
